My ‘Little Idea’ My ‘Big Idea’ Drawing and Multimedia Competition was a way to get the younger people across the Shire to have a say in our consultation process, Envision 2029, for the major review of our strategic community plan. We received some great ideas from kids across the Shire and it was very hard to choose only 3 winners but here they are

Reserve 30824 on Alva Way, Cervantes, has been formally named Tranquilo Park which was the unofficial name preferred by the local community for many years, after being given final geographic naming approval by Landgate.

During the summer Christmas and New Year holidays of 2018 / 19 the Shire of Dandaragan will be again trialling a weekly recycling waste collection. This service will run from week beginning Monday 3 December 2018 through to and inclusive of Tuesday 28 January 2019. Normal services will resume the week beginning Monday 4 February 2019.

The Shire of Dandaragan proposes to introduce amendment 36 to Dandaragan Local Planning Scheme No.7. The two parts of this amendment are: - Remove the presumption against rezoning subdivision and development within the Bassendean Precinct Special Control Area, subject to referral to and advice from relevant govt agencies eg, Department of Water & Environmental Regulation - Introduces a new special control area to protect public drinking water sources for Badgingarra, Cervantes, Dandaragan, Jurien Bay and Moora.

The Shire of Dandaragan will bring forward the prohibited burning season, due to dry seasonal conditions and high risk of fire. As of Monday 15 October, the prohibited burning period comes into effect which means there will be strictly no burning up until 28th February 2018.

Following the discovery of sinkholes in the limestone ledges north of Sandy Cape campsites, permanent warning signs are now being installed. We encourage people to take notice of signage indicating areas of high risk and use caution along the ledges.

The Telstra Store in Ocean Keys is coming to Cervantes to provide information to our customers in relation to the NBN, whilst at the same time, provide a fund raising opportunity for the local primary School. We are also sponsoring a visit to the school by Caitlyn Basset, who will run a session for the upper primary students on cyber safety. Our dates of our visit will be the 13th and 14th October, opposite the shops as well as September 19th at the school.
