Notice of Public Advertisement of Significant Development Application 

A significant development application for a power station at Cataby in the Shire of Dandaragan has been received by the Western Australian Planning Commission (WAPC) under Part 11B of the Planning and Development Act 2005.

The development application proposes a gas-fired power station generating up to 500MW with a turbine generation unit, 15 reciprocating engines and infrastructure for transmission, operations and access. The proposal is also known as the Cataby Power Station.

Address: 10585 (Lot 1001) Brand Highway, Cataby.

The application is being assessed for the WAPC by the Department of Planning, Lands and Heritage and all enquiries and submissions should be directed to the Department using the link below.

Local residents: The development application documents can be inspected at the Shire of Dandaragan Administration Centre, 69 Bashford Street, Jurien Bay, 9am-4pm weekdays for the duration of the submission period.

 

Planners from the Department of Planning, Lands and Heritage will be available in Dandaragan and Jurien Bay on 14 and 15 October 2026 for meetings with residents (up to two residents per meeting). You can book a meeting via the consultation web page above.
