Public Notice – Proposed Local Planning Policy 9.16 – Exempt Development
The Shire of Dandaragan invites public comment on the proposed Local Planning Policy 9.16 – Exempt Development. The policy has been prepared to streamline the planning regulatory process and ensure acceptable development outcomes.
Under the policy, Development Approval will not be required for:
- Minor structures associated with residential development that are not specifically covered in the Residential Design Codes.
- Structures associated with broadacre farming i.e. sheds.
- Water tanks in the rural and rural residential zones.
- Single houses and development incidental to a single house in the rural residential zone (i.e. sheds, house extensions etc).
- Ancillary dwellings in the rural and rural residential zones.
Note: Building Permit and applicable Health requirements will still apply.

Submissions on the amended policy may be made via dsr@dandaragan.wa.gov.au until 5.00pm, Friday 20 November 2026.
