COASTAL MONITORING SURVERYS UNDERWAY THIS WEEK | CERVANTES & JURIEN BAY

Residents and visitors may notice some new faces along the Shire’s coastline this week as the Shire commences data collection for a new coastal monitoring program.

Consultants O2 Marine will be undertaking terrestrial and hydrographic surveys of key sections of the coastline and nearshore waters around Cervantes and Jurien Bay from Tuesday 10th March to Saturday 14th March.

These surveys will capture important baseline information on the current condition of local beaches, dunes and the sea floor. Establishing this baseline will allow the Shire to track changes over time, better understand coastal processes, and improve long‑term planning for coastal hazard management and resilience.

The establishment of the coastal monitoring program is supported in part by a Coastal Adaptation and Protection (CAP) Grant from the State Government’s Department of Transport and Major Infrastructure.  For any queries about the programme, please contact Monica Sullivan on 9652 0800.
