NOTICE
Notice is hereby given to land owners/occupiers within the Shire of Dandaragan that fire breaks and hazard reduction requirements must be installed by 1 November 2025 and maintained up to and including 30 April 2026 as per the requirements of Section 33 of the Bush Fires Act 1954.
Failure, or neglect to comply with this notice is an offence and can result in a penalty of up to $5,000. The Shire advises that its officers, contractors, vehicles, and machinery, may carry out the requisitions of this notice if they are not complied with throughout the dates specified above. Any costs and expenses incurred may be recovered from you as the owner and/or occupier of the land.
Under the Bush Fires Act 1954, it is generally an offence to light fires during the Prohibited Burning period. Penalties of up to $10,000 fine, 12 months’ imprisonment, or both may apply. Prohibited Burning times are as follows; 1st November to 28th February.

1 APRIL - 30 SEPTEMBER: During this time you still need to keep any fire on your property under control. Responsible burning means monitoring the weather conditions prior, during, and after your planned burn, informing your neighbours, and have the appropriate resources on hand to ensure your fire doesn’t get away.
