TRAINEESHIP - CERTIFICATE III TOURISM

The Shire of Dandaragan has been successful in securing funding through the Country Local Government Fund Youth Development Traineeship Program 2017 - 2018 and is pleased to be able to offer two separate traineeships in community services and tourism. These opportunities will allow you to complete a Certificate III in Community Services or a Certificate III in Tourism via a full-time traineeship of up to 12 months’ duration.

Certificate III in Community Services

You will develop your administrative skills and experience whilst working as the Community Development (Youth) Trainee on a full time basis for the Shire of Dandaragan. You will be well supported with training and mentoring throughout your employment. Your role will see you working alongside the Community Development Officer and the Community Services Coordinator to provide support to the community services team.

Certificate III in Tourism

You will develop your administrative skills and experience whilst working as the Visitors Centre Officer / Librarian Trainee on a full time basis for the Shire of Dandaragan. You will be well supported with training and mentoring throughout your employment. Your role will see you working alongside the Visitors Centre Officer / Librarian and the Economic Development Coordinator to provide support to the team.

Please note that trainee-level wages will apply to this role as per the Local Government Industry Award 2010.

Who we’re looking for

We’re looking for mature and organised applicants who are committed to completing a formal qualification in one of the abovementioned certificates. You will be willing to learn, follow instructions and work in a team. These roles will require you to interact with other staff members within the Shire as well as external customers and tourists, so a confident and helpful personality is a must.

Skills required

The successful applicant will demonstrate:

  • Strong interest in either youth development or tourism.
  • Good communication skills.
  • Neat presentation, motivation, reliability and flexibility.
  • Completion of year 11 schooling or higher.
  • Commitment to completing a traineeship and passing all practical and theory-based training requirements.

Condition

The successful applicant must be 24 years of age or less. This is a condition set by the Country Local Government Fund Youth Development Traineeship Program 2017 - 2018.
