Public Art and Percent for Art Draft Policy (Closed)

Following the adoption of the Vibrant Communities Arts and Culture Plan by Council in August 2020, which recommended development of a Public Art Policy to support co-creation and commissioning of public art on foreshores, Turquoise Way, Dandaragan Shire 4 Arts trail and other public art installations, the Shire has developed the Public Art and Percent for Art Policy for consideration.

Currently the Shire has no adopted policy around development and/or support of public art or a percent for art scheme. Historically, the approach by the Shire for art projects has been predominantly ad hoc with no clear thematic or strategic direction on the surrounding environment or site, and although Shire officers have developed procedures to review any submissions, this Policy allows a more strategic approach to art project support, development and funding throughout the Shire.

Following this public comment period, the Policy will be considered for adoption at a future Ordinary Council Meeting.

Comments are due by 8am Monday 10 May and may be emailed to council@dandaragan.wa.gov.au, submitted through the comments section of this consultation item, or via the Shire's Facebook page.  Written comments can be posted to:
