Notice of Public Advertisement of Development Application

This application seeks to construct a renewable energy facility (wind farm) consisting of a total of 65 wind turbines with a hub height of up to 170 metres above ground level (‘AGL’) and a tip height, or total overall height, of 261 metres AGL. Three meteorological masts with a total height of 170m AGL each and two communications towers, with a total height of 85 metres each, are also proposed.
The development will also include a Battery Energy Storage System (‘BESS’) with a capacity of 400MW/3200MWh, proposed to be situated on 9479 Brand Highway, Mimegarra. The BESS will occupy a footprint of up to 24 hectares and comprise battery containers, inverters, MV transformers, control and switch gear equipment, lightning protection masts, and security fencing.
Other infrastructure associated with the proposed development includes an electrical substation with a footprint of 1.5 hectares, a Western Power terminal with a footprint of up to 5 hectares, overhead power transmission lines, transportable buildings associated with the construction and operation of the wind farm, and a turkey nest dam.

Submissions may be lodged at the Shire Office or via dsr@dandaragan.wa.gov.au by 4.00pm Friday 22nd August, 2025.
