About the Role
As a Road Maintenance General Hand, you will contribute to the maintenance and upkeep of the Shire's road network and public infrastructure. Based in Jurien Bay, this role involves working across the Shire and offers a varied and rewarding mix of outdoor duties.
This recruitment process is seeking to fill both:
- One casual position, and
- One fixed-term full-time position
The fixed-term position works up to a 9-day fortnight (76 hours per fortnight), providing an excellent opportunity to enjoy meaningful work while maintaining a healthy work-life balance.
Key Responsibilities
Reporting to the Operations Supervisor, you will assist with the maintenance and repair of the Shire's roads, verges, drainage systems, signage and other public infrastructure.
Key duties include:
- Road patching and pothole repairs
- Installation and maintenance of street and road signage
- Road shoulder maintenance
- Drainage construction and improvements
- General maintenance of Shire road assets
- Operation of plant, machinery and equipment in a safe and efficient manner
- Occasional maintenance of parks, gardens and public open spaces
- Adherence to Occupational Safety and Health standards and safe work practices
This role plays an important part in ensuring the Shire's assets remain safe, functional and well-presented for our community and visitors.
