Jurien Bay Marina

The Shire of Dandaragan acknowledges the ongoing environmental issues at the Jurien Bay Marina.
As the organisation responsible for the Marina and for resolving the issues, the Department of Transport (State government) has not provided the funding needed to bring an end to the problems faced each year with fish kills and other problems.  Despite further engineering and design work having been completed, the real issue remains and it’s time for a solution to be implemented.
The Shire’s advocacy on the project continues and solving the environmental issue at the Marina has been identified as a Marquee Project in the Shire's Corporate Business Plan.
The Shire President wrote to the Minister for Transport calling for the State Government to fix the Jurien Bay Marina and has raised the issue many times.  Local Member for Moore, Shane Love MLA has raised this issue in Parliament and welcomes the community support rallying behind this issue.
Recently the Shire supported members of the community to prepare letters to send to politicans imploring them to resolve this environmental issue and we will continue to advocate where we can.
This footage was filmed in 2019 when the Shire President Cr Leslee Holmes was interviewed by the ABC Midwest team about the ongoing environmental issues at the Jurien Bay Marina.  To see the interview, click on the link below.
