Jurien Bay Foreshore and Youth Precinct / Skatepark

The Jurien Bay Foreshore and Youth Precinct has evolved as a vibrant cultural hub for all age groups.  The Shire has activated the foreshore masterplan that was adopted by Council in early 2020, through a number of stages.  With Lotterywest as a Major Supporter of stage one, this stage incorporates the development of a skatepark and youth precinct.  Stage two followed which incorporated a basketball half-court and nature playground, followed by a new beachside pavilion and ablutions block.

All plans have considered future recreational, community, commercial and civic needs within the precinct.

Due to the projects’ high level of local impact on the community, a working group ensured that development of the detailed design of the Jurien Bay Foreshore and Youth Precinct was representative of the community's values, whilst aligning with the key objective of delivering a contemporary, flexible and bespoke foreshore environment that retains Jurien Bay’s sense of place and uniqueness and will ensure that local content, values, and interpretation are incorporated into detailed designs.

Next Steps?

The final stage is almost complete with the addition of a large shade shelter and bbq area adjacent to the nature playground and basketball court.  This is due for completion in late 2022.

The images below show how the skatepark design was developing through feedback and input from the public and the foreshore working group.

Earthcare Landscapes were selected to build a nature playground to replace the previous playground - which was due for renewal.  A draft concept was submitted and the Working Group worked alongside the Shire and Earthcare to design an inclusive, exciting, nature-based space for children and families alike.
