The Shire is pleased to advise that delivery of its 2020-2021 Infrastructure Capital Works Program is well underway following the recent start to a number of significant projects.

Jurien Bay Foreshore Demolition Works and Skate Park Construction - Demolition works at Dobbyn Park due to start tomorrow in preparation for construction of the Jurien Bay Skate Park. These works will include the realignment of the Turquoise Way Path (TWP) and limestone wingwalls along this section of Dobbyn Park, due for completion by mid November 2020. Completion of these staged works will allow the TWP to remain open for use to the public during the skate park construction phase.

Dual Use Pathway - over the past 2 months local contractors have been busy constructing new pathways within Cervantes and Jurien Bay, providing increased connectivity throughout each of our coastal towns, and to existing pathways linking to Turquoise Way Path (TWP):

- Carmella Street, Jurien Bay (underway)

- Casuarina Crescent link to TWP (completed)

- Talavera Road, Cervantes – (completed)

- TWP upgrade – Parakeet to Dover Way (underway)

- TWP upgrade – Eucalypt Way (completed)

Once construction is completed linemarking will be finalised on each new pathway.

Jurien Bay Airstrip Taxiway - following Council's endorsement of the Jurien Bay Airstrip Masterplan earlier this year, construction works to extend the current taxiway are due to commence on Tuesday, 20 October 2020. These progressive works will be undertaken by local contractors and are expected to be completed by the end of December 2020;

Badgingarra Truck Bay - last month local contractors commenced work on the widening and improvement of Badgingarra's Meagher Drive truck bay, with new tree planting, footpaths and off-grid lighting to be included as part of this project. The local CBH sample hut is currently in the process of being refurbished prior to being relocated to this site also. These works are anticipated to be completed by the end of October 2020.

Cervantes Recreation Centre Car Park - reconstruction works of this car park have commenced with Shire staff removing old kerbing and some paving, and resealing the carpark surface prior to asphalting. New tree planting will be taking place in the coming weeks, including additional concrete works and new kerbing, with all works due to be completed before Christmas.

Dandaragan Pioneer Park Fencing - Quotes are currently being sought from local contractors to install new wooden fencing at Pioneer Park. This fencing will match up with the fencing already installed last financial year as part of the Dandaragan Streetscape and Art Enhancement Project.

The above is just a quick summary of the status of each project but highlights the important work the Shire is undertaking to deliver on its annual budget in continuing to make our Shire an attractive place to live, work and play.
