NEW AUTOMATIC DOORS TO JURIEN SPORT & RECREATION CENTRE TO IMPROVE ACCESS FOR SENIORS AND PEOPLE WITH DISABILITY

Since the adoption of the Shire of Dandaragan's first Age Friendly Community Plan, we have been working with members of our Age Friendly Community Reference Group, conducting workshops & audits, to identify areas in our towns that posed difficulties for people with mobility issues or disability.

One of our objectives was to improve accessibility to new and existing Council facilities to promote mobility, independence and quality of life for older people.

By collaborating with seniors and the broader community on this plan and working with the committee of the Jurien Sport and Recreation Centre, automatic opening doors have been installed at the entrance to the centre.

The project was funded in the Shire' s 2018/19 capital projects annual budget.
