To the communities of the Shire of Dandaragan,

I’d like to take this opportunity to thank all of the communities of the Shire of Dandaragan for their well wishes for me and my family as we embark on a new adventure in the South West.

When I first arrived at the Shire of Dandaragan in 2010, I was immensely proud to be appointed the Shire’s CEO.  I could see what potential our Shire had in the future with the opening of Indian Ocean Drive, the continuation of Royalties for Regions funding and probably one of the most sought after locations north of Perth.  Seven and a half years on, that pride has not diminished.

I have certainly been humbled by the phone calls, being stopped in the street, and the cards and emails that I have received from people across the Shire and those that I have worked with over the years.

As I have mentioned to all who have asked, the Shire of Dandaragan, its' people and the Councillors are quite easily the best I have been involved with during my local government career.  I would particularly like to thank the communities of Dandaragan, Badgingarra and Cervantes who, despite the fact I didn’t live in their towns or play for their team, made me feel welcome from day one.  There is no secret that I openly get excited about meetings in Dandy & Badgy for two reasons: firstly, the warm welcome we receive from the community; and secondly, the food! Quite honestly, we must have some of the best caterers in the State with the kind of food I have had the pleasure of tasting!

In local government we are probably one of the most scrutinised sectors on everything that we do. But we are also the most accessible which is what also makes our jobs both enjoyable and challenging. I am aware that everything we do in local government affects the place in which we live. That motto has always been my motivation to make our Shire a better place to live, work and play. I hope that we have been able to achieve that during my time at the Shire of Dandaragan.

As the sun sets on my seven and a half years here at the Shire of Dandaragan, I will look back with fond memories of our towns, our beautiful Shire and the wonderful people I have met.  I also look forward to returning to the Shire as a visitor and a tourist as it is still easily one of the best places in Australia.

Thank you to the communities, Councillors and the staff of the Shire of Dandaragan for making our time here to be one of the best chapters in our lives.
