This morning, the Shire held an impromptu public meeting to allay some of the concerns and to correct misinformation that was being shared on social media about the new doctors service in Jurien Bay.
We can confirm that following the meeting the CEO has since spoken to both our Legal Representatives, as well as Spectrum Health.
As a result of the previous few week’s discussions, as well as today’s, I am pleased to confirm:
· as of Monday morning, Dr. Yuriy Pogorelyuk (Dr. Yuri) will commence at the Wellness Centre and staff at the Wellness Centre are already taking appointments.
· As of 5th December Jenna Lord will be working as the nurse for Spectrum Health 2 days per week between the hours of 8.30 and 2pm on Tuesday’s and Wednesday’s
· The Health Centre also has the ability to take bloods etc. as well as dressings for wounds via appointment by contacting 9652 0200.
As we mentioned today, we also have the same concerns that the community does and are working hard to ensure we get a quality medical service in Jurien Bay.
Thank you once again to those who came to the Shire to discuss your concerns; we will keep you informed of any further updates as the week progresses.
If you have any other concerns on the matter, or would like to ask any further questions, please feel free to attend the next Shire Council Meeting from 4pm Thursday 23 November at the Shire Council Chambers, where questions may be asked of Council (they will be taken on notice), or further discussion can take place at the Council Forum from 5pm.
As an aside if you would like to be added to the Shire’s electronic mailing list to be kept up to date with the latest Shire news through your email address please email requesting you be added to this list

- Leslee Holmes, Shire President
