UPDATE ON GP MEDICAL SERVICES IN JURIEN BAY

The Shire of Dandaragan, for a number of years, has been financially supporting the GP Clinic in Jurien Bay to ensure that our residents and ratepayers have access to GP Services on a regular basis.  Until recently, the Shire has provided this financial support to IPN by way of a cash contribution and rent-free use of the Jurien Bay Wellness Centre, provided they meet certain requirements.

Due to interest being received from alternate GP providers, the Shire of Dandaragan decided to release a Tender for the provision of GP Services in Jurien Bay.

As a result of this tender process, the Shire received three (3) submissions bidding for the contract.

The successful tenderer was Spectrum Health Pty Ltd.

As such, on the 31st October 2017 the current operators IPN will be moving out and Spectrum Health Pty Ltd. will be moving into the Jurien Bay Wellness Centre.

 Some facts:

  • This arrangement will save the Shire of Dandaragan ratepayers $500,000 over the life of the new contract.
  • Council has previously had to financially support the current provider to a similar amount stated above. Council no longer has to fund this private business.
  • The current Doctors are employed by IPN, not the Shire of Dandaragan.
  • The current Doctors are able to work for Spectrum Health if they choose to.
  • The new providers are required to meet the same basic requirements as IPN were previously.
  • Patient records currently with IPN will be handed over to the new provider to ensure continuity for patients.
