Shire Community Grants

The Shire of Dandaragan Community Grants Program objective is to provide funds to community based organisations and individuals, to support the promotion and development of social, economic, recreational, art and cultural benefits for the residents of the Shire of Dandaragan. 

The Community Grants Program fund recurring and annual community grants in order to assist with;

  • Programs, activities and initiatives delivered by community groups;
  • Support community development initiatives;
  • Increase the range of events, activities and services in the Shire of Dandaragan;
  • Encourage the development of excellence and leadership in recreational, sporting, economic, tourism and cultural pursuits; and
  • Encourage the promotion of the Shire of Dandaragan’s positive attributes.

Shire of Dandaragan Grant Program

Tronox MANAGEMENT & Shire of Dandaragan Recreation and Facilities Fund - 2017 round NOW CLOSED

This fund aims to assist local sporting and recreation organisations to purchase items of durable equipment and for providing minor capital improvements. The Shire of Dandaragan has offered this annual funding for over 25 years.

The Tronox Management and Shire of Dandaragan Recreation and Facilities Fund provides a total of $30,000.00 to local clubs and community groups within the Shire for sporting and recreation equipment and small scale infrastructure projects each year.  Applications for the Shire grants open in April and close 30 June annually.

Shire of Dandaragan Community Grants - 2017 round NOW closed

The purpose of the  Shire of Dandaragan Community Grants Program is to provide funds of up to $1,500 to community based organisations in support of the development of social, economic, recreational, art and cultural benefits.

The Community Grants Program is focused on assisting community groups in the delivery of the following:DS4A Photography Workshop at Vern Westbrook Walk

  • Programs, activities and initiatives delivered by community groups:
  • Support community development initiatives:
  • Increase the range of events, activities and services within the Shire
  • Encourage the development of excellence and leadership in recreational, sporting, economic, tourism and cultural pursuits: and
  • Encourage the promotion of the Shire of Dandaragan’s positive attributes.

The maximum annual grant payable under this program will be $1,500.00.  Funding will not be considered for the following:

  • Applications that are eligible for the Shire of Dandaragan / Tronox Management Fund or CSRFF;
  • Political organisations or events;
  • Commercial enterprises;
  • Events delivered by structured sporting clubs and community organisations that are consistent within the primary purpose of that club/organisation;
  • Events or activities that are the responsibility of another level of government;
  • Operning or celebrations of new community groups or premises;
  • Applicants seeking to host an event for the specific purpose of raising funds for re-distribution to other non-profit community groups/clubs or charitable causes;
  • Applications for any activity deemed to be a component of a wider project that will ultimately result in a durable item; and
  • any activity or project already underway or completed.

successful grants round 2017/18

Shire of dandaragan sporting and recreational capital works fund 

The Shire of Dandaragan will, in its annual budget, allocate $50,000 to assist sporting and recreational groups with the replacement, renewal and improvement of capital infrastructure.  The Shire's funding will comprise no more than one third of the total project cost.

Applications to the program will be advertised in April of each year and close in late June.  Because projects under this scheme are major projects, clubs are requested to plan more than one year in advance.

To be eligible for funding under this program, applicants must have:

  • Submitted a Community Sport Recreation Facilities Fund Application (CSRFF, see here) to the Department of Sport and Recreation or submitted an application to another funding source for the project,
  • Be contributing a minimum of 20% of the total cost in cash.

Shire of dandaragan major indoor recreation facilities fund

 The Shire of Dandaragan will consider contributing approximately one-third of the estimated cost of a project on the understanding that the Department of Sport and Recreation or another external body will contribute approximately one-third of the total estimated cost.  The community will be required to meet the balance of the actual cost involved.

A major indoor recreation facility is any indoor community recreation facility that cannot be financed from the Shire of Dandaragan and Tiwest (Tronox) Joint Venture Sporting and Recreation Facilities Fund, or Sporting and Recreational Capital Works Fund.

Funding of projects under this fund on the understanding that a substantial number of ratepayers agree to the project and funding rate.
