The Shire of Dandaragan is currently undertaking a major review of our Strategic Community Plan (SCP).  The community activities assisting us to review the SCP will be called Envision 2029.

The Strategic Community Plan will become the Shire’s highest level strategic document that will outline the long-term vision, values, aspirations and priorities for Badgingarra, Cervantes, Dandaragan and Jurien Bay over the next ten years.  The SCP will then drive the development of local plans, resource strategies, service levels and other strategic documents required by the Shire of Dandaragan to deliver on the overall community vision.

In order to develop the SCP, we need input from as many members of our community as possible.  As a local community organisation, we would greatly appreciate your assistance in promoting Envision 2029, which will comprise of the following stages of community engagement:

Stage One: Surveys

Surveys form the first stage of Envision 2029, where community members are encouraged and invited to contribute to the long-term planning for the Shire of Dandaragan.

During this stage, survey respondents will be asked to describe the kind of community they like living in, offer advice on the things they would like to see change or stay the same, and share the ideas they have to help grow the Shire.

All members of the community are invited to have their say by completing the following online survey:

Responses are due prior to 5pm Day, Date.  Computer access and assistance will be available at the Dandaragan and Jurien Bay Community Resource Centres, libraries around the Shire, and the Shire’s Jurien Bay Administration Centre. Paper surveys are available from the Shire Administration Office upon request.  Please note that data from our recent Youth Survey will be incorporated into the SCP consultation.

Stage Two: Creative Activities

A youth drawing and multimedia competition, ‘Design Your Town’ and an open-age photo competition, ‘Snapping Our Town’ will open later this month, with winning entries featuring in the SCP.  Further information including competition guidelines will be released closer to the date.

Stage Three: My Little Idea, My Big Idea

There will be opportunities for the community to discuss ideas with staff  and Councillors in one-to-one in a variety of venues and locations.

We will also have My Little Idea: My Big Idea boxes in key locations around Badgingarra, Cervantes, Dandaragan and Jurien Bay to share your ideas in a quick and easy format.

Stage Four: Workshops

A series of staff and community workshops will be held during October and November to further consider the information and ideas that were gathered via survey and competition entries during stage one and two.

Stage Five: Focus Groups

A series of stakeholder focus groups will be held during December to consider key issues and themes raised during the community engagement period.  Each focus group will have an appointed panel of local and external speakers and will be responsible for brainstorming ideas and solutions.

Community members that are interested in participating in a workshop or focus group are encouraged to submit their details when completing the Community Survey.

Following the conclusion of the community engagement period, a draft version of the SCP will be presented to the community for review, before being adopted by Council in March 2019.  Further information regarding the review can be accessed on this website.

If you would like further information regarding the Strategic Community Plan, or you are able to offer support to facilitate a review workshop within a group you are involved with, please contact Michelle Perkins on telephone (08) 9652 0800 or email
