Recycling/Waste Minimalization
The 3 R's
The three R's of waste minimisation are Reduction, Re-use and Recycling. In order to increase the lifespan of the Shire’s landfill sites and to provide a better service to residents and ratepayers, the Shire of Dandaragan is committed to reducing the amount of waste going into its landfill and is actively encouraging a reduce, re-use and recycling system.
Recycling depots are provided at Dandaragan, Cervantes and Jurien Bay. At both Cervantes and Jurien Bay a second hand shop of items is set up at the recycling centres for re-use. If you have something which you no longer need but think would be useful for someone else, please let the waste attendant know when you are at the site. You will not be charged for this item if it goes into the 'shop'.
If you are taking items that you think someone else may use to either the Dandaragan or Badgingarra landfills, place it to one site away from the tipping edge. You’d be surprised at the number of people who find items at the tip!
If you have any questions or suggestions as to how the Shire of Dandaragan can improve its reduction of waste to landfill, please let us know via e-mail: council@dandaragan.wa.gov.au)
